Most people accept there is a God. Number of religions. Most people have some belief in God although they differ in these views. Views of God. So talking about God in most places really doesn't offend people. Then when we start to mention specific details of our beliefs it starts to get chilly in the atmosphere. Say Buddha and no one really has an issue. Say Mohammed and some will start to think terrorism. But mention Jesus and all the wheels come off. Think about it. His name is the only one people use as a term of disgust. No one says "Buddha damn it". Or say "Siddhartha Gautama" when they are angry. No, they use God and Jesus in those places.
Anyway, many people do not to equate Jesus with "God". With all that said people really need to know who Jesus is.
Who is Jesus?
First and foremost Jesus is God. There is nothing that negates that. But He is more than that. He is God and was man. He was born of the flesh through a woman named Mary. Mary was untouched by man so she was pure. But He was also born of the Spirit through God the Father. The seed of God was implanted into Mary. This gives him the ability to sin being born of the flesh but also allowed His Spirit to remain holy. This makes Him 100% man and 100% God. Most would say that He was 50% each but no. He had all the qualities of man and He has all the qualities of God, therefore making Him 100% of each.
Where is Jesus?
First and foremost, He is not in a grave! There are a few ways we could look at this. Scripture says He now sits at the right hand of God. Some say He is in Paradise right now with all the saints who have died. Here's the thing, He is God. He is everywhere. So both beliefs can be believed and would be correct.
When did Jesus come into existence?
First and foremost, Jesus is God. He is the creator. Nothing that was made was made without Him. In Genesis when it says "in the beginning God created", it is talking about Jesus. The phrase in the beginning in its original Hebrew language is "b'rsheet". The first letter is the letter "bet" which means house. The second letter is "resh" which means head. Together they spell the word "bar" which means son. When you put it all together The Son is the Head of the House. And what did the head of the house do? He created it all. John said, in the beginning He was with God and He was God. Jesus has always been here.
What does Jesus do?
First and foremost, Jesus died for us. How could Jesus die if He was God? He was born into flesh. He did not die but His flesh did. As God, scripture says, He lowered Himself and became one of us. He lived in our shoes. He had the same feelings, emotions, and temptations that He gave us in our lives. He lived it and conquered it to show us what life was supposed to be like. He came and took upon Himself all the sin of the world so we don't have it. He took the beatings so we have healing. He has freed us from the Law that brings death and replaced it with the Grace that gives life. He created the world. He came as Savior and brought the Kingdom of God. He will return as Judge with the Kingdom of heaven.
Before the beginning, He was with God and He was God. In the beginning, He was the Creator, the Great I AM. In the end He will be King of Kings. But through it all He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last.
